I have the pleasure (and distinction) of being a member of the first graduating class of the OVS Upper Campus. As graduates of the Lower Campus in 1962, my classmates and I were “seniors” for four years.

My college application proudly stated that I was President of the high school as a sophomore. I didn’t both to mention that there no juniors or seniors then, nor that I never was re-elected.

Now as a Board of Trustees Member I am helping the school prepare for the 50th reunion of our high school class.

Founded in 1911, OVS is a private, coeducational boarding and day school
1961 - My first year at Ojai Valley school with my parents, Joe and Betty
Graduation June 1962 at the lower campus - Wallace Burr presiding
Classmate and life-long friend Hiro Noguchi in 1964 as the classrooms were under construction
Our 10 day camping trips were not too rough when your leader was Mike Hermes
Graduation June 1965 - the first graduating class of the Upper Campus
After graduating from college I taught for one semester before heading to Officer Candidate School
1969- While I hate to admit it, I might lay claim to being the worst soccer coach ever.
2006- Cory graduates from Lower and Cameryn from Upper - and I was commencement speaker for both graduations
2013- Fellow OVS Board Member David Trudeau and I remodeled one of the dorm rooms as the pilot project for future improvements.
